What to put on an invoice for dog walkers and pet sitters

As well as the basics that every invoice needs (your details, the client’s details, a number, a date and a total), dog walkers and pet sitters should include:

  • The dog’s name
  • The period the invoice covers
  • Number and type of walks
  • Extras such as feeding visits or holiday cover

Example lines

These are the lines this template starts with. The rates are examples only, so change them to your own prices.

Getting paid without chasing

Put the dog’s name in the reference box. Owners with more than one dog, and you with more than one client called Sarah, will both find it helpful.

A regular invoicing day, such as the last Friday of the month, gets you paid more reliably than sending invoices when you remember. Use Reuse to copy the previous one and change the counts.

Questions

Should I invoice weekly or monthly?

Monthly suits regular clients. For holiday cover or occasional walks, invoice when the booking ends.

Can I show a discount for a second dog?

Yes. Either add a discount percentage in the tax section or add the second dog as its own line at the lower price.
